About Me

Hello, my name is Diane Howell Topkis. The aim of my CLEAR PATH blog is to provide tips, advice and guidance to midlife women who are looking to make a transition to a more authentic career – one that better matches their skills and values. There is so much information out there – as I come across resources I think will be of interest or helpful to you in some way, I’ll bring them to you in this blog.
I’m in midlife and was in the middle of my career when I was laid off and took it as an opportunity to find a new career for the next chapter of my life. I have a passion for helping women like me discover new possibilities and develop new levels of personal and professional success.
I created a process specifically to empower midlife women to find the career they love. Through my CLEAR PATH coaching system they make career transitions with clarity and confidence.
Transition and change are often thought to be the same but they are not. Change is situational, something that happens from the outside like moving to a new house or your college graduate child moving out of the house. Some changes are easier than others. Transition, however is the personal side of change and about what you learn and how you incorporate those changes into your life. It’s often a self-redefinition and unless the learning and transition happens, the change stays superficial.
You can decide your current job isn’t right for you and change to a new company. But unless you go through the internal processes of transition nothing will be different. You will bring the same issues you had in your old job into your new job. There will be no new life or career chapter, just the same one edited a bit.
Working with me, you discover and understand your values, skills and talents. We build and strengthen your personal brand and put together strategic and short term plans to reach your dream job. It could be bettering yourself in your current job, positioning yourself for a move to a similar job in a different company, taking a totally different career path or encore career in retirement. Whichever, it will rekindle the creative spark of your life and career.
I sincerely want you to uncover the life you want, believe in yourself and turn those elusive hopes and dreams into reality in the next chapter of your life.
I encourage you to subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss new posts. Be sure to check out my website to learn more about my coaching process.

Hi Carrie, yes I am interested in Carrie’s book. It looks interesting. I love being my own boss – don’t know why I stayed in the corporate world so long. A future interview or guest blog spot would be great.
